NAVER Data Center Gak

In June 2013, NAVER (formerly NHN) opened its own data center, and I was responsible for signage design to strengthen the brand identity and optimize the user experience within the space. Drawing inspiration from the scientific structure of Jangyeonggak, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a historic institution in Korea,
I visualized the vast scale of information storage systems. The design aimed to reflect the delicacy and stability inherent in the concept, ensuring the space conveyed the importance of safely storing the digital records of Korea's internet users and preserving digital history, akin to the modern-day role of Jangyeonggak.
The signage was designed to serve not only as a navigation tool but also to harmonize with the building’s architectural elements. Additionally, to enhance brand recognition, I designed a series of brand merchandise to help visitors better connect with the ‘Gak’ brand of the data center, offering them a commemorative item that encouraged reflection on its significance.

NAVER's service exhibition by year was installed in the PR hall, so that visitors can see various server equipment used from the beginning of the service to the present, and also the history of the service at a glance.
The data center 'Gak' uses waste heat from servers to grow plants, which were transferred to a brand-mark-shaped pot and distributed to visitors as souvenirs.
It also designed LEED-certified signatures and data center leaflets to let visitors know more.
All of these helped recognize the data center 'Gak' brand.
